The United Nations Security Council is the center of upholding international peace and security between all member nations. At all points in time there will be 15 member states present, 5 of these being permanent nations otherwise known as P5 nations. The P5 nations are China, France, Russia, United Kingdom and United States of America. The remaining 10 positions are based on a three year rotation selected by the countries sitting on the council before them. This is the one committee within the United Nations that is able to create legally binding resolutions, often dealing with great global issues like conflicts or political instability. |
