Melbourne Model United Nations 2018 - Terms and Conditions
Welcome to Melbourne Model United Nations (MelbMUN) 2018. Please read these terms and conditions carefully before registering as a participant in MelbMUN 2018. By registering as a participant, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions as set forth below.
Definitions
'Participant' refers to any individual who has registered to participate in MelbMUN 2018, including but not limited to delegates, directors, secretariats, and observers.
'Terms and conditions' refers to the entirety of this document, applicable to all MelbMUN 2018 materials and events, such as but not limited to the training sessions, conference, and social events.
‘The conference’ refers to all MelbMUN 2018 related events, such as but not limited to the training sessions, conference, and social events, and will be used interchangeably with the term ‘MelbMUN 2018’ and ‘MelbMUN’.
'Code of Conduct' refers to the Code of Conduct document uploaded on the MelbMUN 2018 website, which includes the Welfare Policy within it.
ANY PARTICIPATION IN THIS SERVICE ‘MELBMUN 2018’ WILL CONSTITUTE ACCEPTANCE OF THIS AGREEMENT.
1. Scope of These Terms
These terms of use apply to your use and access of the MelbMUN 2018 website, Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, training sessions materials, email communication and conference proceedings (25th - 27th June 2018).
2. Copyright, Trademarks and other Intellectual Property
Copyright, trademark, patent, and other applicable laws protect the services and materials provided on the MelbMUN 2018 website and social media channels, during the training sessions, and at the conference proceedings and social events. All MelbMUN 2018 materials provided may be downloaded or printed solely for non-commercial and educational purposes only. No other use of these materials may be made without clear written permission from MelbMUN 2018’s co-Secretary Generals (Chris Lai and Tuna Nguyen). Any unauthorised use of the words, images, videos on any public channels may violate copyright, trademark, or privacy laws, and civil and criminal statutes.
3. Right to Change Terms and Conditions
MelbMUN 2018 may, at any point in time and without notification, modify these terms and Conditions. Any changes to these terms and conditions will be effective immediately upon being published on the MelbMUN 2018 website. Your continued use of our website and attendance of MelbMUN organised events following any such modification constitutes your acceptance of these modified Terms.
4. Limitation of Liability
The MelbMUN 2018 Secretariat and the Melbourne International Relations Society are not responsible for the participants or their actions. By consenting to the terms and conditions, you have acknowledged that all legal responsibility lies solely with you, the participant in question, and MelbMUN 2018 will not be provided to you if absent of these limitations.
All MelbMUN 2018 events are accessible to participants at their own risk. The University of Melbourne, the MelbMUN 2018 Secretariat, and the MelbMUN 2018 committee directors will not be liable for any loss, damages and injuries sustained by participants.
5. Privacy policy
I. Confidentiality
The MelbMUN 2018 Secretariat will treat all provided information submitted by all participants as confidential in line with The Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic). All information voluntarily provided by participants will be used solely for the purpose of organising, promoting of MelbMUN conferences, and will not be shared with any third party, unless required by the Australian Government
II. Photography and video
MelbMUN 2018 reserves the right to use all data submitted by individuals through the registration process, sent to MelbMUN 2018 through other channels, and collected during the conference and social events including video footage and photographs without limitations, unless otherwise agreed upon or with reasonable expectation of privacy.
MelbMUN authorised photographers may be present at MelbMUN 2018 events and socials. By consenting to the terms and conditions, you have agreed that photos taken by these photographers may be uploaded online via the Melbourne International Relations Society Facebook page or the MelbMUN 2018 Facebook page, and published online and in print for future promotional purposes.
Melbourne International Relations Society owns all rights to the reproduction and distribution of photographs taken by official photographers at the event (unless taken by third parties hired by the Melbourne International Relations Society).
6. Code of Conduct and Welfare Policy
All participants are required to abide by the terms stated in the MelbMUN 2018 Code of Conduct (which includes the Welfare Policy), to be published on the MelbMUN 2018 website. Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct is considered a serious breach of the terms and conditions subject to standard procedures of evaluation stipulated within the Code of Conduct, and may potentially result in immediate expulsion from the conference and all MelbMUN social events without refund.
7. Illegal and criminal conduct
All illicit drugs and other illegal substances and items will not be tolerated at MelbMUN 2018; discovery of possession, usage, cultivation, trafficking and conspiracy of such items will result in immediate ejection from the conference and may result in criminal liability according to relevant Victorian and Federal law, such as but not limited to the Drugs, Poisons and Controlled Substances Regulations 2006.
8. Registration, payment, withdrawal, and refund policy
I. Admission
Director, delegate, and observer registration dates will be announced on the MelbMUN website and Facebook page. Any late admissions will need to be done by contacting the the USG of Finance and the co-Secretary Generals via email; admissions will not be guaranteed after the registration closing date.
II. Payment
In MelbMUN 2018, there will be a fee of 95 Australian Dollars to register as a delegate; a fee of 75 Australian Dollars to register as a director and a fee of 55 Australian Dollars to register as an observer. The total payment will need to be paid upfront during registration; attendees will not be considered registered until all fees are paid.
Should participants experience difficulty with paying the fee before the registration closing date, please contact the USG of Finance at <[email protected]> for assistance.
III. Withdrawal and Refund
In compliance with the Australian Consumer Law, withdrawal from MelbMUN 2018 will result in no refunds, except in extraordinary circumstances (for instance, if MelbMUN 2018 cannot be hosted during the specified dates, 25th - 27th June 2018). All withdrawal queries should be addressed to the co-Secretary Generals, who will determine whether the withdrawal request meets the criteria for ‘extraordinary circumstances’.
9. Termination
These terms and conditions are effective unless or until modified as noted in Clause (3), or terminated, by MelbMUN 2018’s Co-Secretary Generals at any given time. Should you fail to comply with these terms and conditions, the MelbMUN 2018 Secretariat may deny you access to the MelbMUN 2018 website, social media channels and withdraw your right to participate in any MelbMUN hosted events, including the conference and socials.
